[F8] Fade In A List Component

I have a list component on my stage. I put it inside of a movie clip and tried to setup a simple motion tween - starting with 0 alpha and go to 100 alpha - however when I test this movie, the contents of the list box appear the whole time - the only thing that fades in is the border of the list box component.

Is there any way I can have the whole thing appear on stage together or can it only appear in place?

Place an object over your list component, which has the same color as your background. Then tween it to alpha 0.
