    New website - formatpixel.com - online publishing app

    Hi All,

    I've been working on this site for over a year in my spare time. Its called formatpixel and is an online publishing app that allow's users to create their own online fanzines, magazines, brochures, portfolios, presentations and more. Published projects can be embedded into your own site/blog or viewed through a custom URL or for users of larger accounts exported to your desktop to be viewed off line.

    It supports images, text and flash video is is very much like a Desk Top Publishing programme but completely on the web. Written in Flash 8.

    The system supports a number of features including:

    Editor
    - Insert pages
    - Use the Spread Planner to arrange the order of, add and delete pages
    - Layer objects on your pages in front of and behind one another
    - Apply colour to your pages
    - Apply background colours to your project
    - Utilise the snap-to-grid functions and alignment helpers
    - Upload your own images with the built in image library [ see Image object ]
    - Export Projects to your desktop
    - Embed projects in your own HTML pages or Blogs

    Text objects
    - Change font face
    - Change font colour
    - Change font style [ normal, bold, italic ]
    - Change font alignment [ left, centered or right justified ]
    - Change the background colour
    - Add drop shadow
    - Change the kerning [ spacing between letters ]
    - Change the leading [ spacing between lines ]
    - Add links to other pages, sites or email addresses

    Media objects
    - Import your own JPG, GIF or PNG [ including support for transparency ] files
    - Import FLV Video files
    - NEW Link to YouTube Videos
    - Create your own formatpixel image library
    - Edit the names of your images or delete them
    - Crop your images
    - Add blending modes to images
    - Apply colour filters [ normal, greyscale or sepia ]
    - Apply a customisable blur effect

    Shape objects
    - Change shape
    - Change shapes colour
    - Add blending modes to your shapes

    I don't know really, I've not come across any with as much customization but if you do have any links I'd be quite interested to have a look.

    I like your illustrations, very very nice vector work. I think you could incorporate a more subtle (very well known) page turning effect to aid your document page turning.

    Just a thought.

    Thanks for all the comments guys,

    Arh yes the subtle well known page turning effect! I did look into that about 8months ago but unfortunately it wouldn't really work with the system, as the fonts would need to be embedded. I'm allowing users system font's to try and keep the editor and player light. It's only 91k for the whole system at the moment!

    Thanks again for the comments. I'm working on a re-skin and tweaking for the surrounding site, which I hope to launch in the next few weeks. I've also tweaked the YouTube support which has a more stable support for the thumbnails.
