open battle : make a movie poster

    Hi there,

This is an open battle to make a poster for your imaginary movie. However, you must make the poster based on the genre that is indicated by the last post.

    Here are the rules:

    Theme: imaginary movie
    Size: reasonable - rotation ok
Conditions: *Call for your turn* , no need for previous elements, no need to tell ppl any descriptions of your movie (allow them to guess )
turn around time: no more than a week

    quick starter:

    next genres: comedy horror

Dang it. No sooner did I speak, I just got an email making me have to pull out. Great idea for a battle though.

OK, I didn't call my turn, but I have something to post.

Again, I'm very new to all of this, but I'm having a lot of fun with it!

    C/C welcome (and definitely needed)!

    Haha! Thats funny.
This isnt too bad for a n00b Sandy.

Few things that i do notice right away:
1: The time of day in the graveyard photo, you could've made it a night time scene to go along with your text.
2: Blending & Preportion. You've done so much to little Timmy, that he actually looks like he's not part of the graveyard; he's a little blurry for a start, where the rest of the image is nice and crisp, and his clothes seem too clean for a raging rotting zombie. I also think he's a little too big for his gravestone.
You might want to experiment with your layers a bit more, duplicate the little guy and work on multiple layers and make use of your blending options.

I love that you used the grass all around him to make it look like he's coming up out of the ground though, and thats nicely done.
But yeah, you said yourself you're new to this, so those are only really nitpics, you'll get the hang of things and a better eye for detail as you go.
    Nice idea.
    I'd go watch that movie.

Hey Nats! Thank you soo much for the crit! I agree with just about everything you said. I couldn't find a night time pic, so I tried to tone the stock way down to make it dismal early evening. I'll dig a bit more next time. I'm still new to PS, but with crits like yours I'll get there. As to the proportions, I purposely made him a bit big to better fill the canvas for composition purposes. Not 100% realistic I know, but I thought it worked (in my head I picture one of those little kiddie gravestones).

Thanks again for your thoughtful observations!

Oh and next theme: film noir

I really like the depth you've got going, gerbs! That's the stuff I need to work on... getting a cohesive image out of the parts I put into it.

    Top notch!

Gerbs, love that Sam Jackson's mom, Darth Vader & The Michelan Man are in the movie...

hard to make out the rest of it though...any chance we can get a blow up of the credits??

Great stuff, beautiful bleed of the image into the blackness...
