Installing mySQL 5 on a virtual dedicated server

I have a (dv) DedicatedVirtual 3.0 plan at MediaTemple (I just had it opened).
I requested the root password, and that the Developer Tools be installed.

I am now before the necessity of installing mySQL 5 and PHP5 (for database views and procedures, and OOP support).

There is a somewhat of a procedure for installing PHP5 described in the KB of MediaTemple, but nothing about mySQL.
Some have told me to install YUP, but I really don't have ANY experience whatsoever with Linux shell command line....

    Can anyone gimme some help?

    Resolved

I have managed to do it with some help.

I posted the step-by-step procedure, good for anyone holding a MediaTemple (dv) Dedicated-Virtual 3.0 Server.

    http://blog.ascaniocolonna.com/?p=9

This procedure will get you offroad, meaning you will NOT have automatic update/support either for you server by MediaTemple or for you OS by CentOS.

This will also completely replace your PHP and mySQL distributions, if you need PHP 4 and PHP 5 running side-by-side you will have to install the update manually.

    Hope this helps!
