    MC button help, flickering problem...

I have animated buttons on my site...

the fade in and out... simple

When it loads it goes from full colour to fade out, and when you hover over it fades back in...

No problem there, it all works fine... the up fades out, the over fades in and the hit is a static...

If it is played everything loads fine...

But when i put an action on a button (for this site I have only done the email button) the button with then do tha fade twice, as if it is flickering... Now this ruins the look of everything tbh...

What can be done to overcome this...?

    Please find the file attached...

I do hope there is a simple solution to this...

I have tried putting a transparent layer on top, but the the mouse doent effect the button fade when rolled over...

I have also tried to change the hit so it is at a 20% alpha...

    none of these work...

    Cheers nick

    Nick,

Is it possible to save the .fla as MX format and not MX2004? I have MX and can not open the attached .fla.

I cant im afraid... im using cs3 now and it only goes down to mx 2004... I was using mx 2004 which would have been fine...!

I have overcome the problem, but its not how i hoped...

I have now used a static version to fade in, and once that finishes, the mc version appears...

It works, but it doesnt solve the 'why' about the original way... Im sure there is a proper way about it...

Thanks very much for your offer though...

On a project I worked on I had made buttons that were mc's and told Flash to track them as buttons. This made Flash constantly cycle the different states of the buttons repeatedly. Finally I ended making the buttons - buttons rather than mc's. Then I told Flash to track them as mc's not buttons. In the edit portion of the buttons I never assigned a state other than "Up". I did make 2 layers. The top layer being the button and the bottom one being the hit area. Not sure if that will be of any use as to what you were talking about, but I figured I'd share what I had found and got to work.

Yeah that sounds like another way around it...

Im sure the actual reason is very simple, but the way I have gone around it isnt too much work, just another layer for each button...
