    Is it wrong...

    ...to want a glitzy interface?

I'm on the eve of pulling the trigger on a new box, and I'm having last minute thoughts of Mac or Vista. From a practical standpoint, XP is ideal for me.

But considering the amount of time at work and on projects I spend working in an OS...after umpteen years, I'd like a damn significant change to the UI.

    Is that shallow?

I would suggest just getting something that modifies XP's theme. You're used to XP, so there's no learning curve for OSX, and Vista is just getting annoying at the number resources it is using for me.

Vista has a nice design, but I hate all those "Are you sure you want to launch this program?", "Please confirm that you just double-clicked this .exe-file" etc.

Also, considering I'm not admin on my laptop, (My Dad is.), every time I open firefox, and it trys to update, it comes up with a "Would you like to run Mozilla Updater?", along with an "enter admin password" box. Pisses me off. I mean, you would think they would make it only open on an Admin account. Plus, Vista runs at a solid 549MBs of RAM when I just have my desktop up.
When I get my new comp, I'm going to wipe Vista and put on XP. Or get a Mac.

Then turn it off. It's not that hard.

I'm not that hard to imitate. Just make some random negative claim at Apple or anything else for that matter and then have nothing to back it up.

I'll be on the fence about this right up until I actually have the money for a new laptop. I want to dual boot but my bare bones Dell still scrubs through a flash timeline faster than the G5's in the room.

Just stick with xp until the next microsoft OS comes out.
Vista is gonna be the next WindowsMe, and mac os... well, i guess would choose it over vista, but if i had to choose an os other than xp i would go with ubuntu for now.

I don't have any problems with vista. There's no reason to upgrade, but no real reason to downgrade either.
