Realtime raytracing in games? Now a reality, thx to the makers of GT5!
Made possible by one of the gods of game creation, Polyphony Digital (GT5): http://ps3.ign.com/articles/813/813424p1.html

Here's a video: http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/movie/d920.html
They just use it for menu backgrounds and such. The game itself uses "normal" shaders like all the other games, however, they promise to go to a full 1080p at 60Hz!
The game will boast a larger selection of vehicles than its predecessor, Gran Turismo 4.
Oh and GT 5 Prologue is coming out in October, woohoo!

Prologue is coming out with limited cars in 2007... wait for it to be delayed to January 2008.
Anyway, real-time ray tracing... welcome to 2001. In a game demo, 2005. In a real game that's been vaporware so far... I'd wait for it to actually come out before I say anything.
So far, no 1080p game by Sony has been 60fps. And once they drop the features - damage has already been somewhat ruled out for Prologue - and with the lengthy time per car model for GT5... I'm going to treat this like Windows Vista... Sony/Polyphony will deliver only 2/5ths of what they're claiming now.

An Inconvenient Serving Size
I saw that Nismo 350Z in the (so-called) F1 paddock at Goodwood this year.
This game'll be the reason I stump up for the PS3.

What is the prologue garbage? Just release the full game already...

NFS prostreet finally has a damage system which is something that would be nice to see in GranTourismo too- but still imo. those GT5 shots are by fare the most impressive car game shots I´ve seen so far. It´s almost impossible to recognize the polygons though they used a lot normal mapping.

those cars look really nice. i havnt seen any screen shots from the game, so i just assumed they were making it very arcade like. but this looks very realistic.
