Cant firefox users just use the user agent switcher plugin to make these sites think the browser is something other than firefox?

Yeah I can right click and open a tab or new window within firefox to make it render as a IE page.

If you're always having to open every page in IETab wouldn't that defeat a lot of the purpose of using Firefox? I have IETab to test web pages that I develop without needing both browsers open but using it is just like using IE with different toolbars and such. You're still open to pop-up windows and such.

I'm not that hard to imitate. Just make some random negative claim at Apple or anything else for that matter and then have nothing to back it up.

    Haven't had a TV for 10 years

Success in any form of marketing is about meeting consumer need. If they can't do this and make money, they need to try some other gig. An easier approach is to take a longer look at the consumer objection. If enough consumers are reacting to advertising in this way, then they really should change their marketing approach.

I don't watch TV because I hate the commercials. You can argue that they have a right to be paid for all of their hard work, but I determine if the price is right.

This site is objecting to a consumer response to a problem they ignore. They have a right to apply conditions to site access, but the victory might be pyrrhic.

What if, through consumer analysis, they designed commercials that were not distracting, insulting, annoying, or in any way disaffecting. And what if these commercials had value beyond the sales pitch?
