    [F9] Funnytowers - First AS3 multiplayer game

    Hi there !

We from funnytowers would like to present you with Funnytowers, possibly the first AS3 multiplayer game.

This game was made using advanced technology like we use our own C++ server, to manage our connections from members that are in the multiplayer mode, through a remote port.

So we are very proud of this game.. However, we are having problems with some clients that are using the some kind of flash player we dont properly recognize. So if you have trouble playing the game, please let us know here.

Some versions of flash player v9 seems not to fully accept AS3. Because this problem seems to occur at older versions of flash player 9.

Does anyone knows about this problem?? Every comment or critiq is welcome.

    hmm gambling industry :|
the cards look like they have a tinted square in them is that on purpose? or something to be fixed yet?
At least from the visual technology it doesn´t look like it would require AS3- can´t judege the rest as I never played card games before.

    btw. who is we?

I thought it was a pretty fun game! I only tried the single player version though!

Render, the tinted square is intentional. The left side shows the number and the suit. The tinted square contains the the pattern to visualize the number and suit

Yes the tinted square was done on purpose, and 'we' are the developers behind funnytowers

Also the main reason that we advanced to AS3, is that AS3 has a much cleaner interface, and is easier to program.

We hope you understand that this game is a pure skill game and that several aspects are very unique to flash.

Thank you for looking at it.

It does not work in firefox. It's like I don't have javascript enabled. Hmm, did you on purpose block people who are blocking adds? That's the problem actually. Disabled my add blocker then it loaded.

We don't know how your add blocker works but it seems that it recognizes our flash detection script as an add. We don't have any script which blocks you on purpose. Maybe there is some way to allow this?

    I'm using adblock plus. @@http://www.funnytowers.com/javascript.php?affiliate=1&refresh=20070822
I believe that it has to do with that. Apparently adblock filters stuff that has: "?affiliate"

Thats weird, the url being bloked is indeed our javascript detection, but why it adds affiliate to the url is still unknown to us, this could be the default (the client). Anyway we installed adblock plus and are looking at the problem now. Thank you for showing

Dont worry.. the game actually works better in firefox than in IE (because of the poor player integration). What do you mean with the top left link? is it a link in the game, or do you mean this link?

We figured it out. You are probably looking at the flash detection page. This means you don't have javascript enabled or don't have flash player 9 or higher. These are the only 2 reasons why the game could not work. Please let us kow if there are any other problems. Thank you

Believe me. It IS the adblock. At least for me. If I disable it then refresh then it loads fine.

Yes we are still working on the add block but we don't have a mac and can't test it that easy. If you have problems with the javascript you can also try to play the game at http://www.funytowers.com/flash/funnytowers.swf
But than the flash detection is disabled. If the game acts strange from the start you don't have flash player 9.

Yep, adblock is definitely the culprit - I disabled it and the page worked perfectly

I'm using Safari. It complains that I either don't have JavaScript enabled (except I do), or that I don't have Flash Player 9.0 or higher.

Now, this, too, strikes me as unlikely, seeing as I have version 9,0,60,184, which is fairly recent (ie, just released in the Adobe Labs last night).

Any chance you could just make a button that says "I am sure that I have Flash Player 9, let me play"?

Also, checking the source code, I'm seeing a call to some 'vbscript' file. Only Windows can run Visual Basic script.
