    Monster Hack

    A monster hack of monster.com --> http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6956349.stm

    US job website Monster.com has suffered an online attack with the personal data of hundreds of thousands of users stolen, says a security firm.

    A computer program was used to access the employers' section of the website using stolen log-in credentials.

    Symantec said the log-ins were used to harvest user names, e-mail addresses, home addresses and phone numbers, which were uploaded to a remote web server.

    The stolen data could be used to send phishing and spam e-mails.

    "This remote server held over 1.6 million entries with personal information belonging to several hundred thousands of candidates, mainly based in the US, who had posted their resumes to the Monster.com website," reported Symantec.
    Someone used them? I think I registered an account some years ago, but that should'nt be a big problem as everything, from phone to email ... has changed since than.

    I use monster since they usually get me about 2 or 3 good job inquiries a month.

    I use a disposable email with a filter for monster job offers.

    CV only list the area i live in and no phone number so I should be ok.

    and in a blink of an eye...

    Btw, it looks like they basically just used a script that used an employer account to cycle trough all the user accounts, one by one, technically not even a real hack, just a mass download of information every employer on the site has access to.
