New coins game - need some feed back

    Hi

Im making a new game and Im getting lack of ideas

The main idea of the game is simple, you control the character with your mouse and space bar to jump

The idea is to carch all the coins falling from sky, but be careful, some times there is a "thing" (purple box) that come out and can freeze you if you touch it

Im trying to think, what that purple box can be and what other items can I use to make that game much more fun

    Any ideas?

Any feed back will be appreciated

    PLAY

I love the graphic of the guy.
Maybe the purple box could be a dog or cat that the guy trips over. You could show him fall down, and then you have to wait while he gets back up. It seems less abstract than getting 'frozen' and having to wait for the little meter.

This game is neat, ya cadin the dog or cat idea is a good one.
The game is very simple yet entertaining.

    I like it.
I agree, with cadin as well. Also, maybe some of the coins you get fall out when you trip too?

Nice game, although I didnt liked the graphics too much sorry I think they could be a little more interesting. The guy is just a bit generic.

Anyway I found a bug you can jump contantly to avoid the thing hitting you so you dont have to worry about it at all. you need some kind of jump restraint, per example a small recovery time after jumping. (and you would be vulnerable during this time)

Im not sure if its a requirement but I would avoid using the mouse to control the character you can move at blazing speeds and that makes it too easy and unbelievable, maybe you could use the keys instead?

I think you could add a little better physics, coins could collide with obstacles so is harder to know where they are going, drop a bill from time to time, which has a completely different fall speed and value. Just to keep the player on his toes.

Sorry if Im naggin, just dropping some ideas I think you might use.

Az has good ideas. My first response was sort of a 'do we really need another catch things falling from the sky game?'. It has been so done to death you really need to bring out some clever ideas. The collision idea is interesting. Like a pseudo pachinko thing going on.

    nice game..
but having to control both the keyboard and mouse at the same time can be quite difficult.

maybe left click from the mouse to jump? or instead of dragging the mouse use arrow keys to move right and left..

but other than that its a nice one.

how about jumping with the mouse button instead of the space bar,- didn´t knew until I read this thread - was not in the instructions in the first swf link.

also "funny little fat, character" is somewhat discrimating- not so good word choises imo. it´s like putting those 3 attributes all into 1 character that guides the game and therefore represents a symbol of a certain or typical type of person.

This game is getting really cool! It's a very easy game, so almost anyone can like this game and be good at it, especially younger audiences. It would be neat if things fell from the sky that gave you postive or negative results. Such as a speed boost pickup, or one that makes the coins fall slower etc. Each pickup would only last one stage, and they would rarley be seen.

Anyways, keep up the good work!

It's fun, I played for a fair bit. Nice work. One thing I did notice though was that around level 19 or so, the collision detection starts missing coins as they are falling too fast to be registered on a frame. So the coin will pass directly though the basket instead of being caught.

Bleh. I hate mouse games where the character is somehow joined to the mouse position. Make him run towards it at a set speed, it balances the game and makes it look nicers. The music should stop unless you replace it with a sound effect when a new level is introduced.
