[HELP] Arcade Sound Loops
Hey guys.
I'm trying to finish up my JIG game, and I'm currently stuck at the 'Sound' stage. I've been searching for some sound loops that will fit the theme/criteria of my game and I've narrowed the selection of music down to an Arcade genre similiar to what you would hear in an 'old-school' game.(prefferably utillising bass...I know I'm being picky here ). The problem is that I cannot find any suitable music (arcade, bass/drum, non-techno crud) anywhere at all.
Anyway, I'm asking you guys if you could share some site links or something to help me out here.
btw, before squize or anyone else mentions sounddogs.com, I have checked out that site many times before but: 1. they dont appear to have any arcade loops 2. they're rather expensive anyway
Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated .
Viza.
P.S.
I realise this thread is not that directly related to games and that it's probably a pain in the a** to put it here anyway (I did so because I am confident I'll get a good and relatively quick responce; however, if a mod feels otherwise feel free to move it to the sound forum).

You may need to convert them from MIDI.
I'm jealous that you got to put a JIG entry together, why was I not asked to help?

@IP:Thanks a ton dude!
I've been scanning through some of the older game music, but I'm suprised that so far the new games' sounds are much better (or atleast, less techno-ish and more rock/alternative). The only problem is that the original author may not give me permission to use it, and some dont even state the author (in this case, does that allow me to use this sound???)
About the google search, I swear I've been searching in these forums, in flashkit, in various other sound sites, and also using google... I swear it... Unfortunately I always typed into Google something like: "free sound loops arcade", "arcade sounds drum bass", "free arcade music", etc. which always returned squat .
Btw, IP and anyone else trustworthy (apart from Alilm- because hes my rival ) is welcome to give me a hand by beta-testing/reviewing the games current state. Just send me a pm if you're interested.
To sum up this game so everyone can get an idea of what kind of sounds will suit it, I suppose it resembles a TonyPa/Walnoot game: not a puzzle game of any sort, but rather an engine with a game built around it.
Viza.
P.S. I'm still open to anyone else with some handy links that they could share

I was under the impression by the google description that the sfx on that site were free.

I have an account at gmail and it tracks my searches... I average about 1700 searches per month. I guess you just get a feel for what google likes.

I'm out of town until Monday night, and I'll probably have some work ready for me when I get back, as well as toggling between work school, the fiance and of course my secret stash of Flash CRAP that I always play around with, but we'll see what happens. Heh.

I really like the music in Tony's games... especially the gear rider one or whatever it's called. It really sticks in your head because it's so bizarre. Either way, sounds good.

I thought telling you exactly what I put into Google to get nearly 2.5 million results would be sufficient, but whatever, have it your way.

Hype over content...
K, I won't mention sounddogs ( It isn't that great for arcade sounds to be honest, as I'm sure you've found out ), how about this:

Hey, nice link Squize, cheers... The only problem is that I'm looking for background music atm [ that wording makes that sentence sound like a sarcastic remark, but it's not meant to be ], and the site doesn’t seem to specialise in bg loops.
For now I'm taking a break on music and focusing on graphics and finishing the splash screen / menu, pause screen and graphics, so I think I'm going to see what I can get out of IP's link some time later. Still, the more links the merrier .
Btw, here’s a question for those legal-gurus: I'm thinking of editing some newer game music into something that suits my game (editing=slower tempo, cutting, distorting, etc.), but does mean that I still need permission from the original author to use it??
Thanks for all of the assistance so far.
Viza.
