Non payer client
Hi,
I have done recently some work for a client. Everything went fine and the payment was done.
I had then to do some modifications to it, for which I charged him. As the site was already online, I've already uploaded the modifs. But since, I'm still waiting on the payment and that happened almost a month ago now.
What do you reckon I could do? I've done the work as a freelancer with no contract, so I can't do much on the legal side. But on the dark side, I still have the ftp details. Should I just take back what I've done until the payment is done?
Cheers

He has risen!
you're lucky you got payment in the first place without a contract. ALWAYS no matter what size project you're doing....GET A CONTRACT SIGNED! When they sign that paper, they know they're indebted to you and they're more than likely to pay you for whatever you do in addition because they know there's a contract you can always use as leverage.
When you write up a contract, be sure to state what the project will cost (if you're not billing hourly) and have a separate section which specifies any additional work with your hourly rate. This section is usually the biggest concern for my clients, but after i explain what it is and how it protects both parties they're usually fine with it.
in your situation, be sure you call your main contact and explain what the situation is; give them an ultimatum to revert the changes until payment is made, just as Mr. Taco said above. Just be sure you're not making this ultimatum in a threatening manner if you plan on working with them in the future.
