Hi Guys,
I stumbled across this brilliant shoot'em up game today, and I was so thoroughly impressed I thought I ought to share it. LINKY LINKY
It reminds me of Alilm's neon series, yet it has so much character and style that it feels almost as though it's a completely different genre. Even the menu design is rather intuitive imo, as you'll notice the whole game doesn't have any words (even the help menu!).
Have fun!

I have little to no idea what I was doing at first. The idea is to survive right? after a while i noticed that it did all the shooting for me if I pointed at the circle I wanted smaller. I do like the menu and the game is cool too. If tim burton were to make a game I'd say this would be close. The music helps a lot.
nice find.

I don't know, I just thoght that it was quite original with a great concept, yet it was like second-nature playing it - I just 'got it' as soon as I clicked play without needing any instruction.
Another neat thing about the game is how well it runs; there wasn't one sign of dropping framerate. don't know if you guys have nticed it, but other games with this much calculations and particles flying across the screen run hideouslly on my rig.
Lol @ IP. Yeah, the only annoying thing for me was that the buttons were kinda weird (takes a couple of clicks/rollovers to activate). At first I though the music was poo and rather over-the-top/scary, but as I kept playing I actually thought that it made the game almost 'epic-like'. But that's just my opinion.

When you know are.
I played the first two levels. The game shows promise, I look forward to more work by the creator.
The blend of art/music/interface/gameplay is quite questionable (very much a mismatch), but at least they're trying something out of the ordinary.
I'm really sick of this type of shooting games. We didn't get enough of these in the 80s? ha

The menu system is quite interesting, if you have not figured it out yet then this game does not use any clicking at all - you go over the button and wait, it activates automatically after little delay.

Yeah thanks TonyPa, I had worked that out earlier (just after posting my last message, in fact). That means that the gamehas no colours, no clicking, and not any text.
Another thing I just worked out was that those circles that appear on the playing field after destroying a circle are power-ups. If you move into them, you'll notice you inherit extra abilities (big plasma shots, double fire, shield, etc.) which last for a limited time. There are also bad power-ups which can do things such as sucking the bullets towards it.

Haha thanks .
I agree with you though, neon’s style was unoriginal and boring.
To me this is more like my game 'kaichou' (sorry to reference another of my games, I'm not doing it on purpose) combined with walnoot's 'Gimme friction baby', in other words, the perfect game! Haha just kidding, it’s pretty fun though.

No no, sorry I worded that really badly. I meant that it reminded me of your fantastic series, yet it's different in many ways. To be completely honest (and I;m not just saying this), I much prefer Neon. I was just suprised at how much this game reminded me of Neon yet in many regards it was completely different (hence when I meant style and character).
Maybe it was just because they're both designed to be very unique and intuitive games imo (maybe it's cause I wasn't around in the 80's, but I don't know why you'd say Neon was unoriginal and boring ), and that's why they feel so alike in some cases yet also very different... Of course, I could also be talking out of my ass.

I don't consider it original because it was based quite a lot on geometry wars and other games that came before that. The thing is, neon, to my knowledge was the first GWars style game done in flash (this was before the filter effects came in), so it was somewhat original still at the time. Now though, the net is flooded with similar games, which makes it feel a lot more like a cheap rip-off to me.
It's the reason I have never made the 3rd one. Even though I could make it 100x better than the last 2, it would still just get lost among the other similar games, and I wouldn’t feel like I was being creative.
My games 'abstract sea' and 'kaichou' to me have a more unique and interesting style, even though they didn't get half as good a reception. I love coming up with cool new visual styles, and neon just doesn’t fall into that category.
Thanks for your nice words anyway and don't worry, I wasn't offended, I just thought it was funny .
