RAW image decoding in AS3
Does anyone know about an open source project for RAW image decoding (for Nikon, the only choice for hard-core photographers)?

Don't know of any for AS3. But there is at least one for java. http://jrawio.tidalwave.it
And, there's j2as3 which purports to be a java to as3 converter.
By the way, nikon's RAW file is .nef . Might help with your searches.

Uhhh, I spoke to a couple of internationally acclaimed photographers and realized there is no business opportunity on that side.
The pro's have their favorite software at hand anywhere in the world. News reportages are sent as Jpeg's to the editors for convenience, where as when top quality is required, images are either sent as flat RAW files or as minimally retouched Tiffs (but in this case, again, favorite software is used for the post).
Basically there is minimal or no necessity to:
a) store RAW files on a server.
b) have an online tool for RAW file manipulation.
c) publish pictures on ones personal website (which is usually maintained by an agency).
Maybe there would be more interest in an online tool for photographers that work with the requirement of real-time publishing, but again I doubt there would be any plus working in RAW mode instead of Jpeg for such purpose.
So in the end, there is the technological opportunity, but not the market needs, to justify the development of such a software.
