Imported video symbol much larger than actual video file??

I import a MPEG that is 1.5 megs and when I publish the swf it is 12mb !!
how is that possible?!

In the past the published SWF is about the same size as the mpeg????


What could be happening?!


I search but only found 1 unanswered thread? If your search came up with more please post!! any help is appreciated.

A MPEG is an already compressed file. When you import it into Flash, you compress it again, which believe it or not, can result in a larger file. I'm surprised it's so much bigger, but it's certainly possible. If you can start with an uncompressed version of the video file, you'll get the best video quality at the smallest file size.

Sorry the file is actually Quicktime .mov

I have imported files before without having the file size baloon.

Unless i don't understand I won't be able to get the uncompressed video for these clips.

I am wondering if it is a bug with Flash MX 2004

Edit: I imported a 14 meg mpg with CS3 kept everything maxed out and it went from 14mb to 3.5mb so I think it must have something to do with the version of flash i am using at home.
