Convincing the suits that KM is best
I love KM. I use it for my own projects and side work, and now I need to convince the management that it's a better choice for us. Here's a quick background: I'm in IT, managing and designing our intranet site. I need to be able to switch quickly between PL/SQL, JSP, HTML, JS, CSS, and graphics work. Our marketing department uses the latest version of Flash, but they don't take full advantage of it...they're primarily designers and anything beyond a click-through is beyond them. They're responsible for our Internet site, but they don't have anything to do with our intranet (via Oracle Portal). As a result of some shuffling about, I'll be doing more Flash work. I want to be able to standardize IT using KM. I do have Flash MX and use it, but...well, preaching to the choir...I can do better work faster with KM.
Any ideas for converting the management without concerns of source file interoperability? Thanks for the help!!!

Any programming language is at its best before it is implemented and used.

That web bloke
There is no place in the IT industry for snobbery and ignorance, if you employ either of these, then you will be very quckly left behind.
The hard facts are that it isn't what it is, its what it does for you.
You have a very low priced product which improves your ability to be creative in less time, with no loss of function, so it's a no-brainer, tell your boss you have found a way that you can cut his costs, and improve your productivity, and that you are amaized that the previous IT people had not made him aware of this.

never uses KM (propably never will have the time for that)- but imo. it´s rather a choise of what someone is used to- the very same reason why windows is so 'popular'.
If learning doesn´t matter support, functionality (remote, various file im/export,..) and help resources free or books are essential. And esspecially with the resources Flash itself is very well placed.

Windows is so popular because there are no other alternatives ...
Adobe Flash is so popular because is the first one (and is the most featured, let's face it).
But KoolMoves is a great deal for anyone (beginner or advanced).
Why?
Because of that "$49 vs $699".

You will have to have tangible evidence (example swfs) that KM is as capable as any other tool, but less expensive. Just like potential employees, potential softwares need resumes. You must demonstrate what KM can do.

Thanks for all the ammo, folks! (Sorry for the late reply...took a much-needed long weekend.) You (all) hit the points I want to present: cost, capability, ease of use. This is a funny company...they'll toe the line as a big M$/Oracle/Adobe shop, then use something really off the wall. I think this will help me present the case in the best light. Thanks again!

Some dude, says hi
I got FLASH since I lost KM, and it's much harder, so you can say it's easier to use. Less functions than flash, but they're small things. PS, anyone remember me?

Thick as a Brick
I've built a few sites with KM. I have Flash, but rarely use it. I can (For the most part) put something together in KM pretty quick. But then again, I've used it for quite some time now. As for my client's, if I give 'um what they want, they're happy. And you can't beat the price!
