Bought a Princeton 19" off E-bay
It doesn't work.
I've never heard of Princeton monitors before, but it was really cheap, so i got it. It arrived yesterday, and seemed to work at first. Then I changed some resolution settings, and the screen went blank. Now it works when you change the settings enough. I can't start my computer with it as the main monitor, because then the logon won't appear. If I change the settings a bit, it works sometimes, but other times, it doesn't.
Anyone have experience with Princeton monitors or know why it won't work. Here is the link to the item btw:

Same thing happens with my 19" ViewSonic CRT when I try to go upwards of 1600. When that happens, I have to use another monitor to bring it back, or I press F8 to get into Safe Mode and reset the resolution.

It's not only high resolutions, it's low ones too, and even at the recommended resolution it fails.

sounds like you're out of range... refresh more than likely.
boot up in safe mode, change it.

What do you mean by out of range? It asks for 1280x1024 @ 60Hz and I set it to 1280x1024 @ 60Hz and it works when it feels like it. What should I change in safemode?

well, I don't mind admitting I was wrong.
a lot of people switch from CRT's to LCD's and end up not setting their refresh rates down from 76hz/83hz to 60/66hz to avoid being out of range in that way too.

It seems the monitor only handles 16bit colors. By default I had it at 32 bit. The monitor only works sometimes now. I can't change the settings around too much, or else it will stop working. But it works ok. So the conclusion is, don't get a Princeton monitor; they are cheap and have only 16bit colors
