walking the new cooper river bridge

i live in charleston, south carolina. over the weekend, 90,000 fellow citizens and i decided to take a walk over our new bridge that will be opening on the 16th. so, along with nordgal and nordboy, we hit the concrete and scaled the beast...and what a beast it is! this badboy crosses our entire harbor in one span, and dwarfs the two other bridges (built in the 20s and 50s) that are currently in use.

between sweating profusely (heat index of 101 with 100% humidity) and picking my jaw up off the ground from the amazing views, i was able to snap a couple shots. you can thank the north end of hurricane dennis for the cloudy skies! enjoi...

    going up...

    cables...

    more cables...

    evil-doer protection...

can't wait to drive over this thing next weekend...

Is there any reason you didn't blur the edges into eachother and try to adjust the exposure so they all matched so you couldn't tell it was stiched together?

i actually wanted it to look like it was stitched together. if i wanted a seamless shot, i just would have used a wider angle lens. when i snapped the first image, i didn't really plan on doing a collage...i just popped off some more in the spur of the moment. i didn't even do it right, as my lens was arleady too wide. as you can see, there is a LOT of overlap in each frame. having my lens set to 35-45mm would have been better (more images, but more detail). i also did not get the full 180 degrees - you can see the tips of my wifes shoes in the lower right, but the bridge is missing on the lower left...oops!

thanks for the feedback all. i can't take credit though, as the designers of the bridge made shots like #2 and #3 just too easy. it's an amazing thing, and i'm glad we did the walk. this weekend, we get to drive over it!

Like I said in the other thread. ONLY warning on bringing up old threads.

Again you bring it back up. Leave this thread alone.
