[CS3] What would you call this effect?

see on the banner how there's a looped shimmer/glimmer/sparkle effect? i can't for the life of me figure out how to do it... nor do i know what it is called!! i have been searching for a tutorial, but it's hard to find one if you don't know the name of the effect.

can someone point me in the right direction please?!

i would just call that a shine, you can FBF (frame br frame) animate one, or use a mask in the shape of the thing you are trying to make shiny and then tween your shine shape across it

shines work best when reatively fast, and are quite easy to make, just be sure to use white with an alpha setting of whatever seems good... i wouldnt advise coloured shines but in some cases those can look good aswell
