Bush: "Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter!"
I swear, just when I think this guy can't be any more embarrassing to the country than he already is...
When leaving the G8 summit in Japan he grins like an idiot, pumps his fist, and tells the other world leaders, "Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter!"
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...lluter%27.html
The American leader, who has been condemned throughout his presidency for failing to tackle climate change, ended a private meeting with the words: "Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter."
He then punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock.
I'm just surprised he didn't shoot them his famous "one finger salute" while he was at it.

what recession?
It's a downturn, and honestly that's probably putting it lightly; however even my typical doom-and-gloom self will not say it's not a recession quite yet.

The widely understood definition of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth in real GDP. In other words, in order to be in a recession, the economy actually needs to recede rather than grow.
We may end up in a recession soon. But, the economy grew last quarter, albeit by less than it has in previous years. So, a recession depends on what happens in the future at this point.

Whatever the definition is my retirement money in fidelity is shrinking every day, my monthly living cost is increasing and my salary does not go up. I call that a recession, because it happens to the majority of people and we don't even want to talk about having a job.
The economy grew for oil industry, that is correct.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but wages for production workers have increased every month except once in April 2003 since before 1998. Whatever your circumstances are, assuming yours went down or stayed the same, they do not reflect the average.
And who do you think owns the oil industry? If your retirement money is in fidelity as a 401k or such, there's a very good chance that you're one of them.
[PPI and CPI have bounced up and down relatively evenly over the last 10 years as well. Not really lining up well with your living costs increasing assertion.]

It is not mine it is ours. They went up once in 5 years while the executive salaries went up every year and I am working in a publicly funded place. If you are not represented by a union you are screwed. And whatever you say because of the inflation the net income went down.
Not everything is because the current government but a lot of the problems we are in was caused by them. Even many Republicans I know think that the Bush government was the worst ever.
Oil stocks are only part of the packages not everything.
You are really a master of turning around reality.

I'm not turning anything around. I'm just providing facts rather than assertions.
The actual data does not support the economic assertions you have made.
Your allusion to Bush in the context of what we are discussing just indicates that you have a motivation to reach the conclusion that the economy is in a recession. It is not.

isnt it odd that presidents that do or could do good things get assassinated, and presidents that F stuff up play golf after saying that are no longer going to play golf out of respect for the troops that have died.
