    Lightroom

Just curious as to FK's opinion on Lightroom. Haven't gotten to use my new camera much, but I did this weekend, and gave Lightroom a test run.

It seems like the same corrections would be a lot more complicated and time-consuming in Photoshop, but the quality of the processing is there. Such as taking exposure down 1/3 of a stop when the exposure is just slightly over. Picasa doesn't even come close in terms of editing capabilities.

However, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the workflow and interface. What do you guys think, worth $300?

I would say so. I've never used it for managing a huge library but the interface seems quite open to showing/hiding things that are important to you so over time your workflow will come together.

Also I think the latest version supports addons so that's good value for money.

I have my images stored by a folder with the year and then labeled by when I shot them so like "7-15-08".

I might have to look into Lightroom or similar to so some editing/organizing and tagging. I used the Beta and it was alright but I hear the new one is outstanding.

I love it. I know I probably only use around 10% of its potential too. I have just over 22,000 images in the library and it skims through the raw previews like they're 100kb jpegs.

Just installed the full LR2. It is finally out of beta. We shall see how the next 30 days go. Importing over 20,000 photos into my catalog right now.

Just finished importing. Took about half an hour to import 21,278 photos. I have some other stuff but nothing worth cataloging .

    Anyone else get V.2 yet?

I'm not sure if I'm just too used to my work flow or if I just need more time with it(prob both) but I am just not feeling it and damn the blurry previews are annoying me to no end. It takes so long to render them clear and my system is far from not being powerful enough.

So with the new camera I think I am going to take on the task of really sitting down with lightroom again and try to give it a go into my digital workflow. I already have a HUGE library so I am kind of scared in doing this as I am pretty ocd about this stuff so I will be going back through all my stuff and tagging it. I will probably be a little lazy about it and just label each folder by location or something- I couldn't imagine tagging 1000's of images haha.
