[F8] Where to start?

Hey, everyone. Let me fill you in a little. I've been here before a few times trying to take on tasks above my head, and I've tried tutorials, and I just can't get anywhere. I really want to look into actionscript for games, but this is my first scripting language and i know nothing. I feel i really don't know where to start without failing.

Pretty much all over the web, and with other languages i see two things: People who know the language and try to teach you expecting that you have some background knowledge, which is hard when you have none, and people giving you script and telling you how to put things together. Which really doesn't help either if you don't know how to make your own script, or even know what it does. I've been redirected and shot down a few times by some of the people here but... I really want to learn and understand for myself so i can move on.

I have the Flash 8 studio, and I'm looking for some Actionscript 2 help, so if you can guide me or know somewhere that really explains and applies the basics that would help a lot, because i really need to learn some stuff for myself. Thanks for understanding and i hope i can get somewhere soon cause i'm really excited!

I will guarantee that you will learn the basics after reading this book. And if you want something free then just read some tutorials and mess around with Flash; you'll get the hang of it eventually...
