    Flash Statistics from Video

I have to create a web player that can record the time / length a unique user has watched an flv video for. Is this possible? does anyone know of any methods that exist to do this or any opensource players i.e. flowplayer / jw player that can have this built into them. I ideally need to record the total time that the user has viewed the flv for and when they stopped viewing it / streaming.

Im not looking to copy anyones work but if you could point me in the right direction via tutorials or examples and possibly buzzwords that related to what im looking for - i think it would make my life alot easier.

    thanks

are you using FMS (thats flash media server to us laypeople)? it has built in tools to do just what you're talking about.

if you're talking about a standalone player...well! You'd definately have a bit of backend scripting to do.

Thanks for the reply - I might be able to grab these details from whoever hosts my content. Some big content streamers that i have been looking at are akamai and limelight. Do you know of anyone examples or buzzwords related to what this topic is to help me continue my search Dan.

    regards

Well I would have thought that the first port of call would be either Akamai/limelight. They'll fall over themselves to help you out if they think they'll get your custom....

I'm all out of buzzwords I'm afraid....
