    Game Size and Sponsorship

    Quick Question:

So, I had an epiphany and decided to make my game 112x112 pixels. I've been working on it for a while, and truth be told sponsorship hasn't crossed my mind too often but I just realized it might be a pain in the butt because most of the advertisements they place at the beginning of games are much larger than 112x112 themselves. Do you guys think it going to be a problem getting a sponsor for a game so small, or is it something not to worry about?

    Thanks in advance,

That's something hard to tell, as it is up to the sponsor, but as you said most of the sponsor logos are larger than 112x112, you couldn't even place mochiads into a movie of such dimensions. I placed a logo into a 112x112 movie and there's no problem reading the logo, so maybe that won't be an obstacle, but if you can still resize it I'd recommend to do so, it will be less trouble. Also something to consider is that games are most of the times surrounded by other type of publicity, menus, etc... so if the game is less noticeable than other things around, maybe a sponsor won't like that too much. Just my opinion though. Btw, what type of game are you making? I'm curious

an RPG... I dunno I'm very torn because I really like the idea of such a small game, kinda makes it something special. You could probably even place it in a signature on a forum where that was allowed... Anyways, my game is inspired from an old game bard's tale, you can view an old version of it without any battles or anything at http://almiraby.110mb.com/tinyrpg/preview.html

I definitely agree about how it would get lost on a lot of sites with all the menus surrounding the game and such, ahh, now I'm so torn.

I think making a game of such dimensions is a cool idea, and of course it makes it special, I like it If you want your game to be that size then keep it up . Why don't you e-mail some sponsor to hear their opinion?

Once you have finished the game, you can simply load it into bigger swf, center it and leave whitespace around the actual game area.

    or simply
    PHP Code:
    Stage.scaleMode "noScale"
and just use a 112² stage- as soon as someone tries to rescale your movie the content gets centered automaticly
