    FK trains!

Sure, just take a two hour train ride to see your mom. Ride down was actually kinda nice. But the ride back? Two hour delay just sitting there cause a freight train was broken down and then they skip my stop! No ****ing wonder they can barely stay in business. 5 hrs later I'm finally home and really pissed. I need a beer or five.

I've done Amtrak between NY and DC more times than I can count, and only once had a delay when thunderstorms knocked out power to the signals on a stretch of track.

By far, a better experience than flying.

I've never been on a train, but i'd have to agree with palex here. At least you were already on your way to your destination when the delay happened.

Nothing is worse than sitting in the terminal for 3.5 hours after delay after delay, only to board the plane and sit there in a tiny seat for another 2.5 hours (without water and not allowed to go to the bathroom) before you even take off. And when it happens to you twice....you never want to fly again. It feels like you're a prisoner.

It's kind of like Trans Metro (a company that runs most trains in New Zealand), and the bad thing is that if there are no more than 4 people are at a stop, and none in the train requested a stop, they just drive past.
    They are complete idiots!

It really makes me wonder why we don't have a high-speed rail system here.

Probably because the big companies make more money by selling you cars and charging a lot for gas.

I heard someone say once that it was because of them being potential terrorist targets.

If that statement is serious, then the US should also stop building skyscrapers as well.

I remember I once found either a documentary or a book about how the history of trains in Germany after the war...it looked interesting, but I bookmarked it to read it later, and now I can't find it
