AS3 Memory Usage

Hi. I was making this website in AS2 thinking it was alot more memory / CPU intensive than an equivalent in AS3. I've heard that AS3 is alot faster etc. But after some tests I conclude that I was wrong, the AS3 version of the same site almost uses twice as much memory as the AS2 version. Is AS3 generally more memory intensive or am I just a lousy AS3 user? And this difference is especially apparent when I load in external content using XML and loaders.

Any comments on this?
