[Discuss] How to generate revenue from Flash games?

Is anyone generating any cash revenue from their flash games? Seems like getting something up and running with Mochiads is painless. But it appears you would need a substantial amount of views to make any money.

If there is a white paper on "making money with flash games" please by all means link to it. But if possible, I'd like to hear any success stories (large or small) from developers who frequent here. I've seen alot of good games from devs on this forum, and I'm wondering..."surely they just don't develop it and give it away for nuttin!" Thanks.

I always thought the best way to make cash from it would be to make exclusive games for portals and other big clients requiring games. They pay some very big dollars for flash games. Game ads are a constant flow but harder to achieve a good income off the one title unless its a smash hit. I say find private work. Contact big brands.

It's not quite as simple as contacting big brands, but yeah that's where the money is with Flash.

FlashGameLicence and mochi both have lots of articles about money making. It's something we avoid talking about here as it tends to bring the arsehole out in people.
Also, write a game first mate ! Even if the bottom line is money, at least pretend you're working with Flash for the artistic thrill for a little while ( A lot of beginners in actionscript come here and ask a million questions when they're blatantly only in it for the money. People are cool helping out others who show an interest in making great games, less cool in helping people out who just see games as a means to an end ).

"Even if the bottom line is money, at least pretend you're working with Flash for the artistic thrill for a little while.."

heh....I'll probably write 100 games in Flash over the next couple of years, and 99 of them will be for the artistic thrill (utter crap) just for the fun of it because I just love to code and get something moving on screen, been doing that for over 30 years now. But just incase that "1" sod of a game can generate some revenue, why not? So it's always good to have knowlage on the subject so if/when the time comes you're armed with the know how.

I probably wouldn't even posted the thread here if I didn't see all of the amazing quality games here which lead to me think surely you don't give this stuff away for free. I'll check out flashlicense and mochiads more. Thanks.

So.. if talking cash is taboo around here, I apologize, mods feel free to remove the thread. I surely don't want to bring out the arse in anyone, yikes, that's never good for a forum.

Sorry...thanks...I'll go back to my noob status and stay there a bit longer.

Sorry if my reply read as being a bit harsh, it wasn't intended that way, it's just there has been so many threads here that have gone sour when money is mentioned ( And so many newer members flamed when mentioning money "too soon" ).

Things have changed a lot now, a lot of people are more than happy to blab how much they earn ( Away from here, we've posted some stats before,

And at the bottom of that post are a couple of links to people who don't mind who knows what they earn ).

No prob. I'm not into the whole contract thing like other devs are. I just want to write games that I design/program. Getting a few quid for my time would be nice however.

Anyone have any experience with Mochiads they are willing to share?
