hdtv for web and computer usage

I am considering a 32" HDTV that would be primarily for video watching and secondarily as a monitor for internet and computer use in the living room.

Will I have a better web browsing/computer usage experience on a 1080p resolution screen vs. 720p?

How far back can you sit still be able to read web site text or word processing text on a 32" screen (typical size fonts and typical eyesite)?

Anyone have observations on how the refresh rate affects responsiveness of mouse movement with an HDTV?

I actually just finished building a new home theater pc for our bedroom.
I decided to use a 27" lcd pc monitor instead of a 32" lcd tv.

I also have a similar machine in our living room connected to a 32" lcd tv.

I went into display settings and bumped the dpi up to 120 so text would be a little larger on both machines.

I have no problems with refresh rates on either machine.

I would say the monitor is best if the machine will be primarily used for as a pc, but if its used more for video watching go with the tv.

what resolution is your tv and do you think it makes much of a difference to view the web on 720p vs 1080p?

The resolution on the new 27" monitor is 2048x1152.
The resolution on the 32" tv is 1024x768.

With the dpi set to 120 reading text is no problem on either, although the monitor has a much sharper picture.

I believe that most lcd tv sets don't run at a true native resolution the same way a monitor does, also the tv sets usually seem to have some sort of de-interlacing or processing that removes some of the sharpness, but I could be wrong about this.

As far as 1080 vs 720, I have looked at allot of different ones in local shops, and personally I cant tell the difference.

My experience says yes...I recently bought a 21" Samsung Wide Screen monitor which is fullHD (native resolution 1920 x 1080) and it is sharp like a razor. I was truly amazed even though I expected great things when I bought it.

Commonly 2.5 - 3 times the diagonal measurement of the screen is recommended for any type of TV viewing

I have not used TV with 'puter, but I expect that the higher the better.
