against what everyone said I just sold my Sigma.... and am looking for someone to buy my 50 1.8 as I NEVER use it.

So hopefully by the end of the week I will find a seller in my range for a 40D. Looking for around $650. Saw one go this morning before I had the money go for $625 but it was VERY used.

So once I get the 40D in and test it and accept it as my new work horse I will be offing my 20D and getting some lights and later down the line I am thinking a 85 1.8 for portrait work or hell even the 100 macro so I can get into more closeup work and just use that for portraits- that thing is razor sharp! One day I will go back to a superwide but right now I think my Tamron can handle all the landscape work I can throw at it. Hopefully by next spring I can go full frame and finally be at my real goal ....5D Mark II....oh yummy

The sigma was shipped out this morning and I have a potential seller for a 40D. Just crossing my fingers the other buyer falls through. Would be sweet to have a new 40D in the mail by this weekend. Oh lord once I buy it I hate waiting for the mail it is so killer

The buyer fell through so now as soon as the guy pm's me back his paypal I will be getting a fancy almost new 40D! and as soon as it comes in I will have a 20D for sale

So now I am the proud owner of a gripped 40D. It is considerably heavier then the 20D setup I have noticed so far from handling it. I couldn't imaged a 1D series with a big ol L on there. It is mint looking. Only thing that is wrong with it is there is 2 dust specs in the VF and not just little nano specs. Nice big dust specs. It will throw me off for a while always thinking it is on the lens but oh well. Anyone know if when you send a camera into canon to be cleaned and serviced if they clean the VF?

I just read that the dust may actually be on the focusing screen and now that they are user removable it is easy to take out and check. So when I get home I am going to see what I can do. Would be annoying if they were right in the eye piece.

Also the wheel by the shutter is not nearly as smooth as on the 20D. It is actually loud when you turn it to...click click...click.

only small nit picks otherwise I am ****ING PUMPED- now only if the workday was over.

Congrats on the new cam WannaBe! See what we get as a result ey

I have a spec on my mirrors which is really annoying...think I'll never get use to the 'rock' in front of my right eye
I heard Nikon asks for some extra charge to clean the mirror system...it has to sit there forever I'm afraid.

Add $275 to that and it's yours.

actually I have a friend who might buy it. but if you're serious you can have 2nd pick before it goes onto POTN.

Ahh a nice refresh to the factory defaults and updated the firmware. Now I am ready to customize this beast and get outside.

Just did a thorough cleaning of the outside of the eye piece, the mirror, and even took out the focusing screen. Wow was that scary. That focusing screen POPS right out! I rocket-aired the **** out of the whole thing and I actually removed 98% of the dust. There is just 1 dark speck in the top right but knowing that is SOMEWHERE between the focusing screen and the eye piece I can be aware it isn't my lens so I'm happy.

Liveview shooting connected to the computer is wild. You can fine tune the focusing VERY precisely.
