    Screenshots of my game: RetroShoot!

My first game in flash/as3 is done! I just wanted to say thanks again for all the feedback and help from this forum. The game is already sponsored and should be out in a few days or so.

    Congrats! This game looks fantastic.

Are you using bitmapdata? Is that lightning effect generated with code? It looks sweet.

I wanted to know about the lightning as well lol. If so then awesome. If not then it looks awesome.

Congrats on migrating to AS3... those of us that are lazy could learn a few things from you.. (taking notes)

    Hey as3newb (Dave?),

I'm very impressed with your Flash game, more so the presentation and simplicity of it.

If you are interested, I have Flash game idea that will benefit anyone in its production and large promotional estate.

<Mod Edit> Do not include email addresses in postings</edit].

Thanks, and best of luck to you with your career.

Not bad at all!!! I like how the screen orientation changes periodically. Eye candy is nice. Do you have a blog? It'd be great to read up on how the development process went.

From what I could see, the lightning is a prerendered image, and then you're just drawing it, rotating it, and then fading it out onto a BitmapData? Nice effect anyhow!

I like the game play, and it runs pretty well (don't worry, it probably runs like a cheetah on everyone elses computers). It's actually one of the best games I've seen done like this! Most games like these really screw it up, but what I liked about your game is that you don't feel guilty letting a couple baddies through. Most games like these I feel like restarting the level as soon as I let one slip by me!

    Great job!

Cool game, took a little to load so I'm guessing that most of the effects are pre-rendered. Very fun to play.

Hi! Thanks for the comments! In regards to how some of things were done, I plan on having a small write up of the game on the site: retroshoot.com sometime this weekend. That's when I can place the game live on my site. I've never done a write up before, so I don't know how in depth I should go? I think the more experienced coders will laugh at how I did some things, but you know what...the peeps who play the game don't mind do they? lol.
