How do I setup a php file to send out emails

I wanna make an adjustment to an swf I made to send an automated email to people when the signup to an online game I'm in the process of making...

I tried quite a few tutorials on sending emails from flash via php, but none of them are working, or at least I don't know how to get it working because I dunno a speck of php and I just downloaded the source rather than trying to follow the tutorial and do it myself.

I'm putting the php files on my brothers website which supports php code up to php5.

I'm having it send to my email address and it does go through with completing the form when I press send. But I'm not receiving any emails I send.
