Weird lines in Photoshop?
I don't know what the hell this is.
Got a new computer with vista on it ( :/ ) and installed my Photoshop 7 on it.
Started a new project and saw something really weird that never happened before:

Can't really see with the gaussian blur, but there are pixelated lines there!
What the hell is up?
I don't even know what key words to search for over the internet.
Anyone has an idea?

It's called banding, and it sometimes happens in flash when using a gradient. The cause of it is that it is trying to register the colors inbetween, and instead of it making a smooth gradation from one color to the next it will create lines of color.
The only fix I found with this is that sometimes changing your color and re-creating the color you want, or restarting the computer sometimes fixes it. Im assuming since you are using a blur on your image it is not property distributing the amount of blur gradation.
Best of luck to you, If you figure out how to fix it please share, but the only way I found around it is, recreating or restarting my machine.

He has risen!
i don't know if this is banding as the lines don't follow the angle of gradient.
could it be your video card not processing things right? do you have issues with any other program?
who knows though...maybe it's vista not liking older software? do you have all vista updates?

As I was writing this, I found the solution.
------------------------------
Restarting didn't help.
Tried updating my graphic drivers - I think it actually made it worse. Now the lines appear stronger even at low opacity. Or maybe I'm imagining.
Read somewhere that turning off video hardware acceleration can help. Took me a while to find out I can do that only through some nvidia control panel. But turning it off didn't help either.
I know PS7 doesn't work well with some versions of vista for some people, but only in terms of not starting or crashing.
------------------------------
As I began complaining in this post, I figured there has to be some update.
Checked on Adobe's site, and found this PS7.0.1 Update
. It worked
Lines are gone, blur is fixed, and everything seems to work smoother and faster.
Thanks for the help anyway
