Any May Day in North America?
Today is May Day, and while International Workers’ Day (Labour Day in the UK), means little in the USA, its a big holiday in Europe. Banks and markets are closed on the continent, (England celebrates on Monday).
Europe and USA are both welfare states but in Europe, the natural population (i.e., people) is the recipient, while in the US, the corporate population is the beneficiary.

Canadian are not better at all and that's why I am talking about North America here.
Any North American who goes shopping at Wal-mart in order to save 20 cents, loses 30 cents in the process.
People have to decide if they want to be capitalists or socialists. I think they need to decide if exploitation is okay or not. If it’s okay, then it’s okay for North Americans to be exploited too. If it’s not okay, then they need to stop gleefully funding it via shopping trips to Wal*Mart and passive stock investing via mutual funds. If they’re not intentional with their spending and investing, then they’ve got no right to complain when it’s their turn to be on the wrong side of exploitative practices.
Shoppers deserve no respect when they buy from those corporate pirates and then cry when they lose their job to an immigrant or foreigner.
North Americans need to get both hands doing the same thing. And I don’t mean the right hand ordering a pizza when the left is chugging a beer.
That makes me think that maybe when they'll get hungry they'll start to protest.
Too many lost in a cloud of brainwashed distraction.

I'm lost by your rambling. Your message is utterly useless as it stands man. Seriously.
If nobody can make sense of what you're standing for, what you're stating and above all what you're trying to make happen, it will not help anybody; including yourself.

Nobody's perfect and this one of my main problem when I want to get to a point quickly. TY for letting me know.
Wal-Mart and most of the corporate sources the vast majority of their products from countries overseas, meaning most of the cost of a given Wal-Mart product doesn’t go into the U.S. economy. Rather than boosting the U.S. economy, Wal-Mart has played a major role in exporting U.S. manufacturing jobs to countries with low labor and environmental standards. Meanwhile, the company has embraced unions in its Chinese stores and has negotiated with them to raise Chinese salaries. Apparently, what is good enough for China is not good enough here at home.
At the same its killing the local economy with low prices that are set globally and not locally. Simply put its cheap price at a higher cost.
To stay on the subject. Chrysler isn't doing much better for their workers with chapter 11 and chapter 4 of their saving plan. Its like a drowning person trying to save another drowning person (Fiat&Chrysler)... If you are looking in deep at the whole thing its about depth consolidation of bankrupt company's so that bankers can still get some fees out of them at the expense of the public and all that without paying tax. All this with wage compression for the workers as well.
Soon or later with so many weapons in the country it can only end up in violence not like in France or other places in the world. I only hope that we get out of our lethargy, wake up and rise up! But that's the same thing Obama is asking for. Currently the middle class is getting penalize like never before. Most of the people will see the effect of the current situation in 1 year or 2 when everything is going to be out of price for most of the John Doe. We are currently in a small deflation but inflation will kick in and fast with a tax hike at the same time.
I hope that all this wont happen but as times goes by this is exactly where we are heading. Here in Canada its exactly the same as in USA but we are so obsess to be not like US that it makes us blind as well.
I'll say that Education if the first cause of the problem.

I think that you accept assertion as fact and then run with it in all kinds of directions.
Start by substantiating this claim and see if you can then move on to any of your other theories with any factual support.

Happy to see that some preconceptions still alive
Talking about 1st May / lily of the valley day (yes, the flower) in France we have some big manifestations quite familial and festive. It s a way to show off for the workers unions and to make some sort of pressure on the government, for them to work on social laws.
It s not a perfect world here but somehow I m happy with all the social progresses won by past men : social security, retirement & unemployment protections, etc. It s also a day to remember these.
And, no, I m not communist and will never be.

Well Americans woke up some time ago when the Bush reality opened their eyes. Then at election day last year they rose up and voted for a different direction. The new direction definitely prevented violence. I am following the politics in Europe, particularly Germany, where in contrast to the 60ties and 70ties a new class of self-centered incapable class of politicians exist who don't see the the big picture and have totally lost the connection to the people.
