[Beta]cellular automata applet

examples:

^ I got that by running different rules without clearing it in between.

Red = reset
white = run
Instructions:
Firstly, the meaning of those boxes in the menu:
You can click the glowing ones beneath each set of three. You'll notice that each of these has a different combination of highlighted boxes, indicating the current rule. By default, this is all set to black, meaning none of these combinations upon detection above any given pixel, will trigger a white pixel. Toggle these yourself and achieve some pretty patterns.
Make sure to click somewhere to add a starting point, or nothing will happen, of course.
The menu is draggable (by the tab on top) and can be hidden. Hovering over it pauses the simulation, to allow you to change the recursion rule in freeze-frame.
Some nice presets: (b = black, w = white)
bwbbwbbb = serpinski triangle
bbwwwwwb = chaotic right triangles
bwwbwbwb = chaotic triangles and tubes
(there are 256 different rules possible).
Download fullscreen here (I don't know how big your screen is...).
To view on the browser, go here.
See any bugs or have any suggestions? I've revised it countless times, including to polish the interface. For once, I'm carrying a project further than pouring gasoline on stickmen.

That's it, I'm fed up with having my barely-legal signatures criticized.

Pretty cool. I wasn't too sure on how to use it, as how it really worked wasn't clear, but I figured it out soon enough, and could create...stuff...with it. Pretty cool, you should expand on it!

I don't really see how this is a game so I'm not sure how it fits in the games forum, but if you choose to expand on it, I could see another sand application spawning from this engine.

The forum description is "games, ideas, code" and so i assumed it's not that strict about that sort of thing. I do plan on expanding on this when i have the time.
