Well, I may not know jack about code, but I sure do know a thing or two about this topic.

First, let me say that I would love to believe that there is other life in the universe apart from us. I really cant overstate that, it could die a happy man.

Sadly, the chances of aliens visiting us are just too low for me to accept it without solid evidence. This is the way I look at the alien subject...

Communication Problems.

Frank Drake's famous equation has been used to estimate the number of possible advanced civilizations in our galaxy several times. The estimates vary from as little as 10 civilizations in the entire galaxy to as much as 50.000 civilization. Either way, even if it is half a million, the number is so low when compared to the 400.000.000.000 stars that could potentially have life, that I seriously doubt that we could just stumble upon a civilization with out radio telescopes.

With the aforementioned in mind, im sure we can all agree that there is an extremely low chance of us initiating any contact or detecting any civilizations.

But what about them detecting us? Well, its possible, but we have no idea what their technology would be like. The only way we could judge this would be by assuming that their technology is similar to ours. So, if there is an alien civilization out there that is scanning the sky in the hydrogen frequency with their radio telescopes, there is no chance that they can detect us. We have not had radio capability that long, any signals coming from us simply would not have reached anywhere yet. And if they are only scanning in the hydrogen frequency, they will have other things to deal with that could interrupt the signal. One pulsar alone could completely mask any signal we are sending, and vice versa.

So, the chances of an alien civilization knowing for a fact that we are here, are extremely low. And if they do not know we are here, then there is little to no chance that they would send a manned expedition to us.

Travel Problems.

Now... on your blog you should some cave drawings, and Egyptian depictions of what looks like rocket ships.

Rocket ships or any other kind of solid vessel would be made of matter, and thus would be restricted to the speed of light. The natural speed limit for our universe. If this is so then it would take them thousands to millions of years to reach us. The only way around this would be to develop some kind of warp drive. But even traveling at 10 times the speed of light, it would still take several generations of travel simply to get here.

You could maybe say as a hypothesis that they are using wormholes to travel here, and that our ideas on time dilation and time travel are correct. But even so, by the time they come here and go back, thousands if not millions of years would have passed on their homeworld.

I seriously doubt that an alien civilization would spend decades building a ship with the capability to get here, put it in to orbit, find astronauts for it. And then send them off on a journey that would take about 30 years for the crew, accounting for time dilation, and about 50.000 years for the people on their planet. All so they can come here and and what? Make a crop circle and mess with out cows. It does not make sense.

Technology Recognition.

So maybe, maybe these aliens are immortal. Maybe they have mastered the use and manipulation of all matter, even living cells. And to them 50.000 years is like a week end to us. Well, then yes, maybe then they could and would travel here. But if they had such technology, their ships would not look like designed objects at all. They would probably look a lot more some kind of natural phenomenon. A beam of light, a microwave pulse, or some other kind of thing. With their kind of technology, there would be no need for rocket or jet power. They would more likely use some kind of frictionless metal to achieve anti gravity. Whatever it is, it would be way beyond our capabilities.

So, whatever the inspiration was for that cave drawing and those Egyptian depictions. The chances of it being an alien space ship are extremely low. For all we know it could be a meteorite or comet in the sky. Cave men and ancient Egyptians where not exactly famous for their critical thinking skills and lack of imagination.

The Problem Of The Little Green Men.

Two eyes, a mouth, a nose, ears, a head, 2 arms, 2 legs, one torso. The gray, the blond, why is it that aliens always seem to have a humanoid shape?

The first person ever to claim to see an alien, and claim that it had a humanoid shape, was obviously either insane or telling lies. Anyone who claims to have seen an alien, and that it had a humanoid shape is obviously lacking an understanding of biology and evolution.

Here on earth, there are all kinds of creatures. Snakes don't have legs, fish live under water, spiders have eight legs, some animals and plants are poisonous, some are not. Some have venom, others do not. There are all kinds of differences between us. However, with all these differences, there are still many similarities. Most creatures have a face, most faces have a mouth and two eyes, eyes tend to be above the mouth. These faces tend to be on a head, said head tends to have a neck. A snake may not have legs, but it does have two eyes above its mouth on its face, on its head. A horse has four legs, and it also has two eyes directly above its mouth. A spider has eight legs and eight eyes, but the eyes are still above the mouth. The reason for these similarities is because we all have a common ancestor. And the reason we all have differences is because we are all adapted for different tasks, normally in different environments.

There are two leading hypotheses at the moment on the origin of life. One is abiogenesis, the other is panspermia. If it is true all abiogenesis is the way it happened, then there is little to no chance that an alien species would have anything in common with us, simply because it would have a totally different common ancestor. Sure, there is a chance they will have heads, and maybe a chance that they will even have faces, but there is no reason why their eyes should be above their mouth, no reason for them to have heads, no reason for them to have legs, stomachs, bones, blood or any other feature found on life here on earth.

The only way I can realistically imagine that an alien would have a humanoid form, is if panspermia is true, but even is it is. That would only increase our chances of having the same common ancestor as them by a fractional amount. There could be countless original sources. And even if an alien did share the same common ancestor with us, there is still no reason to think they would look like humans simply because they developed on a planet that is likely to have a completely different environment.

I find it highly suspect that all claims of alien abduction and alien encounters all describe a humanoid looking creature. Some have been more inventive and claimed they looked like reptiles ad what not, but they always describe a humanoid creature. This in my book, is a sure tell that what they are saying is a fabrication of their mind.

In Closing.

I hate to make arguments based on probability, it almost feels like telling a lottery winner that there is no chance they could have won yesterday, as they only has a 1 in 48 million chance of winning. Probability does not always reflect reality, but in this case, I think the probability behind the claims are so great that they demand evidence. To quote Carl Sagan, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. In this case, the evidence required has to be something just short of seeing the worlds leaders shake ''hands'' with an alien ambassador live on TV.

it also does not help your argument when you have well known fakes and debunked things on the site. Like the face on mars, now well explained as just a human face recognition thing.

Presonally, my official position on the existence of aliens is that I don't believe it until I have proof. But deep down I suspect they are out there. I just need some real evidence.

Anyway, that's me done on this for now. Don't let my criticism get to you too much, overall I enjoy finding sites like yours and arguing the toss.
