Mouse and Keyboard suggestions
So as some of you may know, I've capitalized on a brilliant job opportunity and they are asking me to pick out a keyboard/mouse setup. I've always been a huge Logitech fan which in a way is good because I've not had to buy a new peripheral in years, bad because I haven't kept up on what's sweet.
What do you like, love, drool over, can't live without?

Ok, I want the blank one.
For me, I use the normal thin Apple keyboard. It has been my fave so far. I don't like "thick" keys. I prefer the thin laptop style.
And for mouse, I LOVE my old school Microsoft blue mouse. As lame as it sounds, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I've even bought a replacement for when it dies in a few years.

I switched to a slimblade trackbal a few months ago. I like it way better than a mouse (and wrist pain is gone).
Before that I loved my logitech mouse except for the fact that you need to constantly change the batteries.
Also, before the trackball, I was using a wacom tablet. It's cool to use a pen instead of a mouse.

I'm sorry but that blank keyboard just seems stupid. The last thing I want to do is stuggle entering a password simply because I can't verify what I'm typing. I don't know if the blue ground effects on the mouse would bug me.
@Argo do you do a lot of graphics or video? I've tried a track ball before but found pecision drawing to be painful. A wacom is wonderful for that but since it's only part of what I do, it was more often an expensive mouse pad. I spent a fortune on batteries for my first logitech wireless. But I've purchased two mx laser 1000 recharchables since then and they've become my favorite periphial ever. I thought I'd get an equal thrill from their keyboards bug they were actually kind of annoying compared to cheap Microsoft media pros.
So far I'm eyeing the das with labels and which ever dual laser rechargable goody logitech is offering.

The last time I bought a thin laptop type keyboard it was crap. the keys fell off before I got the box to my car. I returned it to circuit city only to find they didn't have a single one that wasn't already broken in the store. So I went to Office max and bought a different brand same type of keyboard there. It too was crap but at least I got a days use out of the thing before it fell apart. If there is a solid reliable mini keyboard on the market it has evaded me.
I like the keys on my laptop but I've yet to do any serious typing on them.
I do have a quam with laptops in general Why are the keys so far back? There is too much space between the spacebar and the front of the unit for my liking.
I liked the old MS ergo. If you learned to type in school at a young age and adapted yourself for it. the thing was great. It forced me to type properly and I had less wrist fatigue after a long day/night of coding/writing then I've experienced with standard keyboards.

I work with website layouts. Create buttons, gradients, move things around, etc. No drawing or painting. I think that the trackball is a bit more imprecise than a mouse for detailed work, but I've adapted to it by working a bit slower and zooming in more than usual.
However, the trackball is faster for everything else. I love that it stays on the same place in my desk, so I don't need to keep adjusting it and moving my hand. One fast movement of your finger, and the ball spins fast...the cursor flies. I love it

Hmm, just noticed the Das has no media controls. I gotta have my play/stop/pause/prev/next.
