Thread: reduce the file size

    Lightbulb reduce the file size

    I am designing a website. My flash file comes up to a size of 1.5 mb. It takes around 1 minute to load. Please suggest me some tip so that i can reduce the file size.

    Evaluate size of your document. Don't create 1680 X 1200 if you really don't need it. Resize all bitmaps to exact size needed in Flash before importing to Flash. Create all your other objects to exact size needed, never scale down after placing on the stage. You might want to break off some of the content into separate movie clips and only load that movie clip when and if needed.
    One minute to download 1.5MB is really slow... a full Flash site may not be the best answer for slow Internet connections like that. In addition, use an informative and creative preloader to keep your viewers entertained as the site loads...don't just using "Loading..." or "Percent Loaded.... "
