My post was not about whether or not people are going to panic/riot/loot if an asteroid hits earth, it was whether or not we are planning for it, and how likely it is to happen. When the air force finds it useful to practice that, then there's got to be something in it. An asteroid hitting earth is one of the few natural disasters that could strike within a couple of days, and which we can actually do something about, if we spend the money on it now. In fact, we don't need a lot of money to prepare for an asteroid impact. Yes, many of the things he mentions in that video is pretty strange and seem unlikely, and are difficult to solve, but compare that to the asteroid attack and how simple the solution for that is, and over how short a period it's going to happen. For example, the poles switching place is going to takes years, maybe hundreds or thousands of years. A solar flare is not going to destroy us is a day, but an asteroid is.
