Yeah, I don't know. Everyone is getting very jazzed up about a product that is really not meant to be one that's focused on 'mac users.' For the $600 price tag (give or take) it's a luxury item not a replacement for anything. I never bought a MB Air (though it made tons of sense for me to) as the price point was too much for what I'd use it for. I travel for work quite a bit and having something like this for the plane and remote office visits which could provide me with a decent sized screen for entertainment, light computing, email access, etc. it's a no brainer. I was talking to my doctor who is completely pumped about using something like this in the office as he has all kinds of iPhone connectivity to his office records and having the bigger screen real estate will be a huge win.
I get it (people being pissed off, that is) -- it can't be all things to all people, but I really don't think this product was something that was ever going to be targeted at the mac power user/graphics pro/mega coder set and that's really something that everyone is going to have to get used to. Apple cannot survive continuing to own less than 10% of the PC market. Products that appeal to a larger audience will only prove their longevity as a company.
The non-flash thing though...I couldn't agree with you more.

So, you're not buying one?
As others have pointed out, I don't think the product was ever intended to do what you want it to do. Maybe they will make some kind of pro version at some point. But, it seems like this could be a decent product for casual computing. Something to have lying around in the family room for quick internet look-ups/browsing, email, music, etc.
I wish they would have had some news regarding the new iphone and potential verizon service. I'm thinking of getting my first apple product when that comes out. But, I want the coverage that Verizon offers...

Quite possibly the most unfunny 1:08 I've ever experienced. Does this guy telegraph all of his 'jokes' like this? He's like an even-less-funny Dane Cook, if that's possible.

I wonder what people at Apple are saying about this incident?

Which part of the skit to you consider telegraphed? I've seen Daniel Tosh live and he's fk'ing funny!

The whole thing was telegraphed and clichéd. A pie in the face or a whoopee cushion would have been more creative.

Cliched as in "the old smashing new tech with a blunt object" gag? Can't say I know that meme.
Maybe its just my waaacky sense of humor but sometimes its just funny to see a gadget some nerds would sever a thumb to touch get whacked by a golf club regardless if you knew it was going to happen or not.

Obviously HR isnt into what tosh.o is.
or maybe he just doesnt know what the show is about.
Im sure he doesnt even care, but Tosh.o basically is what talk soup is to online viral videos
every episode he has a web redemption where he takes someone like the dude that passed out into the dumbell rack after dead lifting, or the average homeboy who rapped, or david after the dentist and lets them have a chance to redeem themselves.
he takes all the funny videos from youtube and does comentary on them.
Its an acquired taste of a show. i think its hilarious, but i can understand how its not for everyone. more so i think HR is just angry because he wants an iPad so bad and to see one destroyed makes him a sad kitty

I actually find it funny that most of the complaints about ATT's network issues come from iPhone users. I'm a BB user on ATT and have virtually no issues (other than a dead spot in my town that is dead for all networks), which does seem a little odd.
It just makes me think that this might be a cart leading the horse/tail wagging the dog/pick your euphemism situation. I wonder if they open up iPhone usage to competitors like Verizon and Sprint how long it will take for complaints to start flying in on their services as well. The email process on Blackberry is what I'd call a 'light' service (sans attachments, active content embedded, etc.) and there's not a ton of bandwidth intensive applications on the Blackberry. iPhone, conversely, offers a very rich internet experience that is vastly more bandwidth intensive. Having some of the processing done locally thru apps probably helps some of that, but I'd bet that a typical iPhone user is going to be much more of a bandwidth pig than users of other smartphones.
I haven't heard AT&T reps directly blame the iPhone power users for the drag on their network, but it's got to have at least some level of affect...what with rapid fire 'status updates' or wall postings, tweets, etc.
Anyway, just some food for thought.

This is old hat too...doesn't that Olivia Munn show have a similar segment each night? Did he just make an entire show under the same precept...just without the uber-hot chick?

I would agree with you; however when introduced to the O2 network in Europe, they experienced problems there too...
It has a lot to do with the reception. I had a different phone, same house and no reception problems - 3G as well. Now? There's a true dead spot that AT&T has recognized that's on my way to and fro out of my house. Simply put, the problems are mostly around reception.
The rest... user error. At least that's my opinion.

I only said that because I'm a Verizon user not looking to move networks. AT&T service around here actually really sucks no matter what phone you're using.
But there have been some really nice android phones being announced for Verizon so I might just go with one of those. Only when this phone finally kicks the bucket though because I don't really see the point of a new phone just to tack on another $30 a month for a data plan.
