Finally got around to seeing the movie Kick-Ass. I wasn't really into it because I thought that it was going to be some lame ass preteen comic parody movie. I was way off. This movie IS kick ass. It has so many "did that really just happen?" moments that made it interesting. It's also very graphically violent. That little girl is such a badass. I can now see why it was rated R. The advertising made the movie seem way different then it really is.

    I definitely recommend it.

Yeah, pretty true to the comic book... which was hyper-violent. I saw this one day at the matinee with low-expectations, most comic book based movies tend to suck. But not this one. And for the record... they actually toned down Hit Girl.

I liked the first half of kick-ass way more than the second. I wish it would have remained gritty throughout but just ended like any other super hero movie. 3 stars.

if you want to have an enjoyable time watch jack brooks monster slayer.

Its kind of an origin story so its a slow burn but it was some really hilarious parts as well as some goofy evildead-ish horror aspects. def worth renting.

If anyone is into classic horror from the 70's era I would recommend Ti West new movie "The House of the Devil" it was made last year but if I was to just show it to you with no background you would think it was straight from the late 70's. It is a perfect homage and he got the style perfect. It has a really nice suspenseful build up right until the end. The ending is sorta so-so but overall it was great.

It was one of the Faux trailers from the Grind House movies that they decided to turn into a full length. It is going to be friggin awesome!

Looks like my kind of movie. I read somewhere that it was released 5/5. Is that wrong?

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World looks awesome!

Then again, it's getting harder and harder to get excited about a movie anymore. I can't remember another time when I've had so many let-downs in recent memory. I'm used to about a 60/40 split of good movie vs. bad but thats about 20/80 atm.

The last two movies I watched, A Serious Man and Lovely Bones were straight up painful. What's odd about bad movies today as that they are hidden behind otherwise good production values. Both aforementioned films were well acted, cast and filmed but entirely devoid of a pulse. They flatlined right off the bat and proceed to tantalize you with the hope of resuscitation and just when you're about to give up they roll the credits. It's really getting bad.

Btw, Hard Wired, a straight to dvd flick with Cuba Gooding and Val Kilmer is actually pretty good if you suppress your inner critic.

So blind sided by Blind Side that I don't mind making the terrible pun. Not only did Bullock deserve the award, the movie itself deserved more. Easily better than hurt locker.

really? i haven't seen it yet, but it seemed like just a fluffy feel-good movie (Rudy-esque) based on the commercials.

It's in my queue though, so i guess i'm looking forward to it.

and i did see hurt locker...didn't think it deserved the accolades it got. Seemed more of a pop-corn movie at points due to the over-the-top bravado of the main guy. At one point in the beginning, due to some of the script, i actually thought "this is Top Gun on the ground with bombs instead of planes"...it was a good movie either way though.

Yeah it's pretty much a tear-jerker turned fluffy with a twist of reality. It doesn't try to be a hard-hitting drama or even much of a sports movie.

I know a lot of people here liked Fantastic Mr. Fox but I got really bored about an hour in and shut it off.

I went and saw Get Him To The Greek last night. I didn't really want to see it but was pleasantly surprised on how funny it is. I would recommend at least a rental and maybe save the theater for the bigger actions movies out now but it's laugh out loud funny.

I watched Pandorum yesterday. Very reminiscent of aliens, the descent and eden log, but it was a good movie. The visuals were great and Ben Foster kept it interesting
