Eden Log? You mean Eden Lake? That movie is one of the few decent horror movies to come out recently. I hate little kids.

Watched Shutter Island last night. What a disappointment.

The ending was so predictable that I thought they might be using some clever sleight of hand to lead your expectations in the wrong direction.

Nope. Played out exactly as anyone could have predicted after the first 15 minutes.

Wild Heart = bleh. Another flat liner.
I dare say Smoking Aces 2 is better than the first. Not that the first was all that great but I definitely appreciated the second one more.

I saw smoking aces in theater and still don't know what I watched. I think I need to rewatch it. All I remember is that karate kid in the bathroom.

Are you talking about Crazy Heart? If so, I couldn't disagree more. It may not be your type of story, but it had great character development a great script, and super music.

i couldn't stand Crazy Heart. I thought i'd love it due to my love of guitar and music, but it really just fell way short with me. I thought i was watching 'The Wrestler' but I cared less about the main character.

Er yeah, Crazy Heart. The music was very good. You could detect two very different era's in Bad's and Tommy's music. I disagree on character development though. One character who famously cycled through marriages being moved to get sober after likely his shortest relationship doesn't really resonate as believable. No body else changed at all. The script had some decent lines that bordered on cheesy although I like the scene where he tests the quality of his new song by asking her if she'd heard it before. The editing was all over the place making the story feel out of order in the non-cohesive way. In the end, I just need more pay-off.

Hmmm...I just thought the term 'flat liner' was a little harsh considering you were touting that cinematic masterpiece Smoking Aces 2 in the same breath...

    what's next? Breakin' 2 - Electric Boogaloo?

I don't think "cinematic masterpiece" was in any way suggested by my review. It did however have these things in writing called dramatic structure.

    Electric Boogaloo was awesome!

How many movies actually get better with time like that?

Invictus was very good. Not your typical underdog sports movie. The outcome was a matter of national unity. Can't say that about Rudy. Also nice that one of the players has the exact same name as me.

Just saw the French film À l'intérieur. Like I've been saying- The French have been bringing it with horror(gore) films. Recommended for the very strong stomach.

Other then a little bit of eye candy I'm sure it is. Don't really like that director. Not sure how he keeps getting contracts other then idiots still go and see his movies and the suits think the figures reflect his talent.

Watched The Collector last night. It had a lot of potential but there was no substance. Full of gruesome and creative (some cookie cutter) death but lacked motivation which really made it hard to root for or hate anybody.

Movies like that just try to one up each other in the gore but never in anything else. Yawn.

Look into some french horror. They're the ones getting a nice balance of story into the gore. I need to find some new ones as well so if you find any let me know.

Yeah somehow as a new parent I'm less inclined to watch mindless gore but I'm a sucker for a well constructed visceral slaughter.
