Gunman with hostages at Discovery Building

I work about 3 blocks from the Discovery building and it a sea of cop cars, fire trucks and ambulances as far as I can see.

Haha, my boss said the same thing. Apparently he didn't watch enough myth busters because the "explosive device" was a bust.

Actually, the guy had a pretty good point about Discovery promoting environmental destruction. Kind of interesting if you read what he said.

When I was a kid, in Los Angeles, they interrupted the afternoon shows the networks for a police chase, helicopter vantage point, a guy and his dog in a pickup truck on the freeway. The cops cleared a space around him and the guy got out, lit his truck on fire, and then unfurled this huge banner that said "HMOs are in it for the money". Then he pulled out a shotgun and blew his head off on live TV. Turned out the guy was HIV positive and had been denied access to the drugs he needed. I remember I had just read Farenheit 451 for the first time, and this made a big impression on me.

After that, the local news stations started putting a delay on all the police chase feeds.

This guy's doomed quest reminds me of that.

....and that's what all patriots are like? Pulling guns on people at their workplace?

how come the police shot him dead? Not a very nice way to treat a patriot really is it?

Too bad those police were of the same nationality as the person they killed...hardly like the minutemen and British at all really ...or has the USA been taken over by foreigners in the last few days, and I just missed it?

The dead guy threatened innocent people at their workplace ...you think that can be justified by patriotism???

I just can't see that as the act of a hero, and if it is considered the act of a patriot, then god help you guys with your weird sense of patriotism.

Focus must be given on how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution.
...this is a quote from James J Lee (the dead guy) on his website.

    This is another -
All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants
    and another -
Develop shows that will correct and dismantle the dangerous US world economy.
    ...and yet another -
All human procreation and farming must cease!

It sounds like this guy was so patriotic that he just wanted to get rid of people, he doesn't even care about their nationality.

...I guess one man's patriot is another mans loony.

....not so keen, if someone can view the act of an environmental loony threatening innocents with guns and explosives in someone's workplace as 'patriotic'.

Interesting how, when someone goes off the deep end and commits a crime against abortionists, we spend months debating whether or not it was a conspiracy involving the entire pro-life movement. But, if someone goes off the deep end for environmental reasons, it's just one guy going off the deep end.

Maybe we should use that "inciting violence" argument some have floated. Obama has incited this violent act by talking about environmental concerns too passionately.

The anti abortion movement is widespread and gets a lot of attention from both sides.

I don't think you'll find a widespread debate on genocide. But then again this is the web and I'm talking about you FL. You may indeed seek it's darkest realms to support the extinction of the human race.

The environmental movement isn't wide-spread, getting a lot of attention from both "sides"?

Sorry to disappoint you. But, I leave ideas for population control to communists and liberals like Obama's current Technology Czar, John Holdren and pal Bill Ayers.

The darkest realms I seek on the internet are forums for college football teams that are not the Oregon Ducks.
