Convert video automatically on upload to site

Hi - been years since I've posted an actual flash help question here..

Anyway - I'm working on a site that has a media library. Currently it uses sliverlight to play video files that are uploaded.

Problem is, all sorts of video types/codecs are used and most of the time silverlight doesn't like it.

Ideally we would convert all videos to flash video and play in a swf player on the site.

But - I can hardly ask the website admins to do this for every video - it's just too technical for them.

So - I need (ideally) a way for them to upload a video of any modern format and for that video to be converted to flash video so we can play it directly in the library.

Any ideas if there's a free option to do this?

Thanks but this needs to run on a ASP.NET app - sorry, should have said.

I've seen a product by ******* that seems to do the job but it costs a fair bit.

oops - looks like the name I mentioned doesn't go down well - I wont mention it again but it was only the name of a company that makes the kind of thing I was looking for..
