so since you've solved the problem i had by removing _root from bits of code i've been fiddling with various other things i had tried and that had failed and due to removing _root it has solved some! but in the process given me more problems haha.
so my new plan was to have the images loaded from a folder as jpegs to make things load up quicker and the swf file smaller.. this seems to work fine and i've made the buttons which create the mouseover caption thing transparent.. however the scrollpane it is loaded into seems to be completely random I can keep publishing the swf and it produces different results each time without having made any changes! been going round in circles! haha
Okay, the only problem I see, is that the scroller is not visible in your Main Page, nothing else - to solve that, I'd rather put the ScrollPane in your mainmovie, and then load images1 in it, and put the whole thing inside a movieclip, and make it invisible, and when clicked on the Gallery Button, make it visible!
What do you mean by it's random each time you publish the swf Õ.Ô?

I meant that when i've refreshed it the scrollbar is either there or not there and when it is there it doesn't always show the same amount of pictures in the pane... mainly the last picture is either missing or only partly there.
i'm not japanese but my friend who i did the site for is, i don't really know that much about flash but she wants this update done by next weekend so i'm freaking out! haha.
I somehow managed to find a scrollbar on the net (was really difficult), and somehow managed to make a working one :S
My brain is not working right now to think how to make one xD
