This is hard to answer but I will take a stab at it.

Swish 1.5x- Kool Moves blows it away. Other than Locking Raster images rather than tiling them Swish 1.5X has no advantages over Kool Moves. In fact Swish 1.5x cannot use any type of Raster Images at all.

Comparison between Swish 2.0 and Kool Moves 1.85

Kool Moves is based on a diffrent Approach to animating than Swish. Functionally Kool Moves allows more choices in Import , Has the ability to create and distribute custom text effects, has more text effects avialble, has a Javascript interface, allows more manipulation and control over sounds, has a WYSWIG/ Frame animation interface, Allows for more control over transformations including some psudo 3-D effects, Tiles Images rather than locking them, is cheaper than Swish 2.0, allows you to insert a SWF into a web page that already exists, comes with more built in text effects, allows you to lay out images so that they can be traced, and allows you to create Stock Animation from existing FUN files that can be saved for later and be inserted anywhere into any new project. Movie clips, the ability to choose between tiled and locked images, and SWF import are projected for future realeses. The Kool Moves pro edition has Bones and Flash 5 action scripts among other abilities.

Swish 2.0 (Alpha 6) allows you to create sprites- but leaves out the tell target command, allows you to import SWF as a sprites (as of Alpha 6 the import SWF did not work very well)- again without the tell target command how useful are sprites? , has a timeline based animation aproach (Like Flash- In fact Swish 2.0 looks like a simplified Flash Clone except for the wizards) dependant on effect Wizards, that use mathmatics, to move objects around, and aloows you to insert new scenes, and locks images instead of Tiling them.

I also want to point out that both tools together are less than $100 (many people own both tools BTW) and both have demos. If you are only going to have 1 tool then compare the demos.

I was reading my response and noted that I said Swish 1.5x (the current version of Swish) does not allow Raster Images. That is incorrect. Swish 1.5x does not allow vector graphics except for text.

Also Kool Moves Pro is in developement and the features I listed a planned features.

Also Swish 2.0 is not realed yet due to an extended alpha period to clean up bugs.

An update on the status of bitmap scaling and rotation. I have promised this for awhile. I would like to release this functionality mid to end of March after I return from a one week vacation because it will involve additions to the .fun file tags which will make it impossible to use previous KoolMoves versions. Other proposed functionality like text block leading (line spacing), alignment, etc. also will add new tags so that is also being postponed until after I return.

    Bob,

    > additions to the .fun file tags which will make it impossible to use previous KoolMoves versions.

In the future, do you mean I will not be able open up a previous ver of a koolmove fun file?

What about people have extensive projects? Will they have to recreate their project?

    Thanks

I replied earlier but the computer disconnected...
Could you just warn the people upgrading their KoolMooves
that the older funs will be obsolete?
And, could they save their fun as a swf then import it?
Do you know how much the pro will be, yet?

Sorry to scare people. I didn't phrase it correctly. Using earlier versions of KoolMoves, you may not be able to open a fun file created with KoolMoves 1.95 (to be released in March). You will definitely be able to open older fun files with KoolMoves 1.95. This has occurred many times with prior versions I just didn't bother to say anything about it.

No definite price on the Pro verson yet. We are thinking $99 but offering it for significantly less with an introductory sale. There will be a special upgrade price from the current KoolMoves.
