Actually, honestly, there's only ONE thing in my life I really regret (other than not studying enough-but we all do that)
It may sound humerous, you'll probably understand where I'm coming from.
When my sister died the summer before my senior year in high school, I was 17, and at the height of my white hair/thrift store/goatee wearing phase-I played guitar in a grunge-esque band, this was 1995.
The one thing I regret (but it really does not matter, looks were the last thing that mattered during her funeral and during that week) is how I looked then. At the funeral, where hundereds of people were, there were people my family and I had not seen in a while-the last time they saw me I looked normal-normal hair, etc.
I look back on that time, and I think that everyone must have been saying, "that's Michael?" "I hope he's not involved in drugs." A nice white hairdo (see pic below) offset by an overgrown dark brown goatee can give someone that feeling. Especially back then, no one was wearing their hair like that, I looked like a spaceman/alien/wierdo to most people. I don't regret going through that phase, it was the time of my life, I just sometimes regret how I looked at her funeral. I know that my sister was looking down on me, and how I looked really did not matter to her-what mattered was that I would be OK through it all.
So, there's the look below, it may not have been that white, but it was pretty close... I've changed alot since then, click the "what on earth does an mg33 look like" below and you'll see what I look like these days at 23. I was 17 in that pic below.

I try not to believe in regret. What's important is that you bounce back from your mistakes, make it up to the people you've hurt, or grieve for the ones you've lost. The defining characteristic of a regret is that it involves the past. I think the past should be remembered, but that it shouldn't have control over our lives.
But notice I used the word 'try'. I have my moments when I am overpowered by a sense of regret. I don't think anyone can completely dismiss regret, it's one of our human 'flaws'. But I try.
Oh, and by the way, vampstko, you're a dumba**!

Hi mg33. There is nothing wrong with your code. It is the server. I read somewhere that geo is not allowing anyone to use their servers for pics anymore, unless they are for a geo web page. Don't know if that's true coz I don't use geo, but it sure looks that way.
Just a thought.

Great idea for a thread SwishY
LuxFX, Your life is made up of layers. Maybe it would be easier to just simply call them 'experiences'. Weather or not you want them to control you is not how your 'soul' might be looking at them. I say might to avoid an argument Still, once you walk through a door, you cannot 'unwalk' through a door. All of those doors will not be pleasant, but they can ALL teach us something about ourselves if we look deep enough. I suspect that those who 'can't' look into their souls would be because they are filled with pain and fear. Scary thought.

Thanks Angel
Hi Enigma, While I do not know the particulars about your stated situation, I am begging you to please not carry this around with you for the rest of your life. I have been in your shoes and I can tell you it only eats you up inside. If there is any way that you can contact your ex GF, PLEASE find it in your heart and soul to reach out and do this. There is always a way. It is never to late, no matter how it might seem or look. You deserve to have Love in your life, and I can tell that you Love her very much. She deserves to be loved that much by a special person like you! PLEASE, at least try and look into the possibilities of turning this around. If I can help in anyway, then please just simply e-mail me and let me know how. God bless.

Actually, that's the same thing I was trying to get across. The past has happened, it won't unhappen, so it shouldn't still be able to take control of your life. I'm not saying the past should be dismissed! The past teaches you your mistakes, ways of dealing with them, and looking back on your choice of actions can teach you about yourself. Learn from the past, but don't wallow in it for too long.
Use the past, but don't let the past use you. If you've done something wrong, you should concentrate on fixing the problem, not on the problem itself.
If I were to ever write down my philosophy, a big section would be devoted to the importance of being able to say "Oh well..." and actually mean it.
Live your life, fix your problems, and get on with it!

Most people don't deal with their problems, or even use them to learn anything. They feel 'the pain' and try to bury their problems, and that only makes everything worse later.
Yes, as long as one deals with there problems, and then gets on with their life, I think we are saying the same thing here
