damn, im smooth
for whatever reason (perhaps only in IE 5... maybe with only the flash 4 plugin?) when you highlight text, and set it up to have a URL (in the character tab), when you view the SWF file in the above mentioned browser, you get an error that resembles HTML code
(it'll say something like font="gil sans" color="#000000...)
is this just a flash 4/5 incompatibility problem? IE 5/5.5? or, am i doing something wrong?

I had the same problem, just make sure you watch the movie with a Flash 5 player and everything should work fine.

well, personally, thats not a problem. but, there's a ton o' people out there with just the flash 4 player / plugin (is that what causes it? flash 4/5?)
is there any way around this, other than making all those text links into graphics?

Indeed, it's a new feature in Flash 5 that you can put an url in the Character tab.Flash 4 players don't understand it.
For me, there are two solutions:
1)make the textlink a button.
2)put a Flash sniffer on your website (like the Macromedia Deployment Kit)to make sure that people with the Flash player 4 upgrade to the 5.
