Thread: Avi in Flash

    Can Flash import avi-files or mpeg-files?

    I tried once but it didn't work.

    No flash5 does not currently support importing these file types. You need to use a seperate tool to
    convert them into either animated gifs or swfs.
    Vid2Flash & Flix are tools that will convert these video/audio into swfs so you will be able to use in flash, otherwise you need to use a tool like PhotoShop to import and export as an animated gif, but then of course you will have no sound!

    if you work on pc, you may try flashants fmprojector/fmplay to play native video format in flash. go http://www.flashants.com for more info

    You should try the vid2flash software which allows users to import video into flash. It will do exactly what you are trying to do.

    It basically converts .avi, .mov, and .mpeg into .swf format.
