I’m trying to built a print feature in a Flash movie. The MC that will be printed contains textfield variables. When the print button is clicked it seems that all the variable textfield are reset to the initial MC value. I tried several things like setting the variables in the action properties of frame 1 so they will always be loaded when the MC is activated but nothing works.

Anybody knows how to solve this?

No answer yet - need to ask a question first.
What is activating the print feature - is it in the flash or the html?

A button in the flash movie with this action:

    Get URL ("print:", window="tel")

tel is the MC (nested in the main movie with the button).

Everything is printed as it should except the variable textfields?

did you ever get an answer to this ?

Macromedia say that Text box variables are printed, and site that this can be proved by altering the "flashcalc" example,
    jose m at Macromedia.com (developer Network)says..
"if i test the flashcalc movie, do some calculation that displays a result,
    then print from flash,
i get it to print ok..."

but i haven't got it to work yet.... and presume that,if ,on printing, the print comand starts the playhead from Frame1 to check for Labled print frames, this might be erazing the data created on the fly

Well, I have tried a lot and I don't know exactly what I did but I think it is working now, can't really check as my printer isn't working at the moment!

But what happened was that at the moment I gave the print command and the print dialog box appeared the variables text fields changed to their initial value.

Now this isn't happening anymore so I assume the problem is solved although I have not a clue why!

That was exactly what is happening to my variables, they reset on pressing the print comand....is there any chance that you could post me a working (you hope) example so that i can have a look and see if i can decifer whats going on,
posibly even discover any differences that i have missed to make it work......I think my surmise about clearing the variables/radio buttons is correct, and you may have found an undocumented workaround (abet inadvertantly, but who cares..... if you have solved it .... well done !)

The printable frame is part of quite a big Fla (Over 7 mb).

I will chop it out the fla and send it to you in the next few days. Actually this is how I solved it, but I deleted the single mc so I have to do this again.
